Here are some fun facts about how smoothie was invented.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>A pureed fruit drink, began in the early 1920\u2019s<\/strong> when Julius Freed, young man with a sensitive stomach, began looking for a way to enjoy fresh squeezed orange juice. His stomach couldn\u2019t handle the acidity of fresh squeezed oranges, so he found a way and a few choice ingredients to make them less acidic and a little frothy. His friends loved them and said, \u201cGive me an orange, Julius\u201d, and thus his store, the \u201cOrange Julius\u201d was born.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">By 1970 a lactose intolerant teenager named Steven Kuhnau began to make smoothies in order to be able to enjoy something similar to the milkshakes most of his friends loved. Unable to digest milkshakes because of his lactose intolerance, he created frozen blends of fresh fruit, ice and fruit juice instead. <strong>He was excited to discover that not only did they taste good, they helped control his allergies and blood sugar levels as well.<\/strong> Kuhnau was so excited by his invention he opened a health food store called \u201cThe Smoothie King\u201d and began selling vitamins alongside his healthy drinks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Kuhnau didn\u2019t invent the name. He just branded it, saying the first time he heard the word was in reference to fruit and fruit juice based drinks made by \u201chippies\u201d in the late 60\u2019s. Prior to Kuhnau\u2019s \u201cSmoothie King\u201d, the name \u201csmoothie was used to describe everything from women\u2019s bras and girdles, to ball point pens, car paint and machinery. There was even a band named \u201cThe Smoothies\u201d! It wasn\u2019t until Kuhnau opened his health food store and called his drinks \u201csmoothies\u201d, to appeal to the already health conscious hippies who knew what the term meant, that the name took off.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Today, smoothies have become popular health drinks. Here are some ideas, how to make one.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bemore.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5325.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13370\" src=\"https:\/\/bemore.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/IMG_5325-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>What to add to your smoothie?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Smoothie can be very easy, with just few ingredients. But you can also experiment and add many different compounds to it.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Liquid<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Your choices include preferably non-dairy milk, water, coconut water, tea, and juice.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Fruit and berries<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Fruits will make your smoothie sweeter and give it texture. You can add some fresh or frozen fruits. Some great fruit bases include strawberries, blueberries, mangoes, bananas, pineapples, cherries and peaches.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Veggies<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">If you don\u2019t mind the green colour, adding a handful of spinach or kale is a good way to bring more antioxidants to your drink. These greens also give your smoothie more body, but the flavour from the small serving is virtually undetectable when paired with fruit.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Protein<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">You can add plain Greek yogurt to your smoothie.
